Blankensee

Brandenburg, Germany

During our 2007 visit to Germany, Volker's daughter Julia gave us a tour of her home town Blankensee, a nice village about 12 miles south of Potsdam.

We made a couple of stops on our way to Blankensee (above).

And here we are right in the center of town (below).

The Blankensee (Derived from the Slavonic word Lanka = muddy and the German word See = lake), and the Nieplitz River.

Blankensee might be tiny (it only has 543 inhabitants), but it has its own castle, a mansion built in 1740.

And here are three more pictures we borrowed from Wikipedia.
This little village sure ha a lot to offer.
The towns oldest house, now a museum,
built in 1649.
The Church is even older,
built in the 1300s.
Another view at the castle.
