Rostock

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

During our 2007 Germany trip, we spent a weekend at the coast of the Baltic Sea, enjoying the hospitality of Volker's cousin Anke.
Volker lived in Rostock from 1974 to 1977 and for almost 20 years after that, the sailor's hostel was always a home away from home.

St. Mary's Church at the "Goat Market"; famous for its astronomical clock
Volker's old training ship now serves as a youth hostel in Rostock's inner harbor and of course, we had to check it out:
At the next morning, there was yet another ship to explore. This one had been converted into a maritime museum:

Just north of Rostock is the fishing village Warnemünde, where Volker used to live from 1981 until 1984.
And then, of course, there was the Baltic Sea.

Windmill Elmenhorst, built 1678 Judy at the northernmost point of our voyage.
It wasn't really beach weather, but we still got our feet wet and even took a short cruise.
