My first day in Coburg started with a really good breakfast at Albert Square, named after Prince Consort Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria (the connection of Coburg with British royalty saved the town from the bombing raids of World War II). |

Coburg is famous for its fountains. Some very modern, like the one on Albert Square (above), some ancient, like the Ketschentor Fountain (below), dating back to 1657. |

Ketschentor Fountain is named after the Ketschentor Gate, one of the four Coburg city gates. The tower was built in 1303 (though the upper part has been redone in 1713). While Julia and Kay ordered breakfast, I checked out the gate (below). |
