The Stadthaus (German for Town Hall), built in 1601, is the town's most prominent Renaissance building. It used to be the chancellery of the small duchy Saxe-Coburg. |

Central part of the Market Square is a statue of the towns most famous son, Prince Albert.
![]() Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha was born in 1819. In 1840, he married Queen Victoria of Great Britain. ![]() He is the great-great-grand father of the current British Queen. |

Other impressive buildings near the Market Square are the Loreley (above, left), built in
1763 and the Mintmaster House (above right), built as early as 1444. From here, we moved on to Ehrenburg Palace (right) and from their to Coburg's oldest castle, the "Veste." |
