ARCH-MAGI's ROBE

While the hair and beards of wizards are known to contain powerful magic, the skin of one contains much more power. So much so that the skin of a powerful magician is known to burst into flames during the first enchantments. Only the greatest mages have both enough power to defeat other wizards and enough skill to work the skin of one. It is hardly surprising that wizards' guilds died out long ago.

So far, the following Arch-Magi's Robes have been discovered:

DARK OAK

The spiritual servants of Molwanh can sometimes be persuaded by the most powerful druids to take form as a single length of wood. How this is done is completely unknown. Suffice to say that the fury and power of the divine entity makes the weapon lethal although the spirit is no longer capable of free will which means that the staff can be wielded by anyone.

DEMON

Powerful magics can be used to force a demon to become a weapon. Such a weapon is truly evil and using one will ultimately end in the soul of the wielder being dragged off to the pits of oblivion. Even so, many will risk this for the prowess that the weapon gives in battle. Destroying one of these weapons runs the risk of freeing the demon which may be one of the Balrog's of Fleyshur or worse.

DIVINE

Forged by the servants of the gods, these weapons have a will of their own. They have been known to talk to the wielder if they have a common patron deity, but more often sing only in the heat of battle. They are always ornamented with designs of an unearthly nature and quickly show their divine heritage.

DRAGON BONE

Only one bone of just the right size can be used to make a dragon bow. Unfortunately the size of the bone is only tenuously related to the size of the dragon so that maybe as many as ten dragons have to be killed in order to find a suitable bone. With a further year or two in the making, it is hardly surprising that these weapons are rare to the point of being unique. Once strung though, they can punch an arrow though plate mail as though it was a thin silk vest.

DRAGON MAIL

Dragon scales have to be of an exact size to be used as armour. The reason for this is that cutting one tends to split it along natural flaws rather than the intended line. Before even this can be achieved, the armour has to be warded against the evil manifestation of the dragon. Those that are not, are cursed such that the wearer can suddenly find that even the unlikeliest of strikes somehow managed to slide between scales bringing death with it. Once warded and finished, these suits of armour are virtually impregnable turning away strikes that would sheer through lesser armours as though they were cotton. The wearer cannot help looking like an avenging god.

DWARVEN LORDS's

The proud fathers of the dwarven hosts each wields a mighty weapon embedded with the greatest runes and forged with the most secret arts. These fantastic weapons are rare beyond belief but over the long years, one or two have been lost to dragon hoards. No dwarf would ever stand by and allow one to be wielded by a none dwarf without losing face.

HIGH PRIEST's Mace

The mace is a gift from the priest's God for services rendered in the mortal plane. While a weapon of awesome power, it is also a symbol of authority and upcoming divinity. Folly to those that would dare to wield one of these without permission. As they are buried with the high priest the few of these in circulation can only have been stolen from the dead fingers of the saint by the less devout.

KING's Helmet

The face of a king in war is something to behold and fear. The legendary kings were known to be ruthless in defence of their realm. This is often portrayed in the horrific visage of the helmets that they wore. The face plate actually changes shape, growling and snarling during combat while a pair of ice blue eyes terrify all those caught by the gaze.

KING's Shield

The king's shield is one that is presented to him at his coronation and is buried with him at the time of his death. It is a powerful item that is warded with greater runes of protection as well as divine blessings. While it imbues all of its power only to an ordained king it is nonetheless a powerful item to any that would dare use it.

MASTER THIEF's

Only a few sets of this armour are believed to exist. This is hardly surprising as it requires a king's ransom to purchase a set. The armour is set with magical pockets that appear to hand the tools to the thief or mottle in with the surrounding terrain. This uncanny sense seems to warn the wearer of an attack, even moving their body out of the way.

SOUL SHROUDING

Death is often a consequence of pain driving the soul from the body. This ancient armour prevents this by binding the wearer's soul to the armour. Thus damage is often ignored. This armour is no longer made and has not been made in centuries as it was found that while the damage may well have been averted from the mortal body, the very essence of the wearer became the target instead. After death, the maimed and mutilated spirits of the wearers are forced to endure eternity as grotesques.

SOUL STEALING

Soul stealers are made using an extension of the golem making skills. The art is to give something a burning need without ever allowing it to achieve it. These weapons are also known as vampyric, but this is not true for they do not feast on blood. The weapons wish for a soul to make them complete, but they have not been given the mechanism to trap one so when they take a life, the soul floods through them making them temporarily complete. This moment of rapture followed by the loss of the soul causes the weapon to howl with both ecstasy and despair.
