GEM STONES

Jewelery
Gem Stones can be bought and sold at JEWELLER stores.
They can also be found in dungeons.

250 - MYCROM GEM

Mycrom Gem This opaque orange stone is the commonest and least valuable of the gems found on Kharne. Mycrom are sometimes used in cheap jewellery or to ornament furniture in expensive tavern or palaces. There is a common superstition that a mycrom gem worn next to the heart will provide protection against fever.

25I - AZIMURE GEM

Azimure Gem Azimures are a bright blue, semi-precious stone which are slightly translucent. They are often found in seams of coal and make a worthwhile bonus for any miner lucky enough to find one. Mine owners are quite happy to let them keep the gems as the occasional discovery of an azimure is sure to boost productivity. Unscrupulous owners may even place a few gems in their own mines to stimulate their workers' effort.

252 - EFEMERALD GEM

This is the least valuable of the transparent gems which can be found on Kharne. They vary in colour from pale yellow to pale green and are usually found in underground caverns. It is traditional to use Efemerald to decorate the symbols of office used by town and city officials all over Kharne. The stone is good enough to look quite impressive but common enough to be affordable without stretching the council coffers.

253 - CHIRO GEM

Chiro varies in colour from a golden yellow to a deep red. The stone is softer than most gem types but is very tough and this makes it ideal for decorating anything which gets a lot of wear and tear. Magical weapons or armour will often be adorned with it.

254 - MORTANT GEM

Mortant is a rare but ugly stone with a muddy brown colouration and black splotches. As a result its commonest use is as a trading currency. It is far easier to carry around a few mortant gems rather than thousands of gold pieces. The only other use is as a gift to someone you do not like or wish to insult! The ugliness of the gift shows your total lack of respect for them.

255 - LIDESTONE GEM

Lidestone is the gem traditionally used for wedding rings and wedding gifts. It is as clear as glass but sparkles like fire in the presence of any light source. It is very hard but cuts well and always looks superb. Not surprisingly few townsfolk can afford it and most use a piece of common crystal of glass instead.

256 - GRISS GEM

Griss Gem Griss is an artificial stone created before the fall of the Hegemony. The secret of its manufacture is now lost and the only ones which exist are now extremely old. The gem is usually crystal clear but if compressed the colour will quickly change. A skilled gemsmith can bring out any colour he wishes. A true master can even bring out several colours at once so that light passing through the gem emerges as a bright rainbow of colour.

257 - LIAMAND GEM

Liamond Gem This is the rarest and most valuable of all the gem stones which can be found on Kharne. In colour and texture a liamond is similar to a pearl but it grows with an inner light of incredible purity. They are also remarkably hard and no way has ever been found to shape or cut them. They are usually mounted with a collection of ordinary gems so that the liamond glow can be reflected and scattered in spectacular riot of light.
