MOVABLE INVENTORY

General Store
This is dungeon inventory that can be removed
from its location to be sold in towns.
Sometimes, these items are also offered in several stores.

4I9 - CHEST

This item is a wooden box with a fitted lid and lock. They measure about two cubic feet in size. Shape varies. The box is usually bound with metal strips for extra strength. They can be used for carrying items but the weight of the chest generally makes this impractical and their most common use is for storage. They can often be found in ruins or dungeons but care should be taken when opening them for they may well be trapped.

420 - LARGE CHEST

Large chests measure about four to five cubic feet in size and are obviously very heavy. They are solidly made of hard woods and strengthened with metal strips and plates to provide extra security. They are too heavy to carry far even if empty but are ideal for storing valuable items. They can often be found in dungeons or ruins but will usually be securely locked and trapped.

42I - POUCH

Most characters carry their coins in a small leather sack, tied to a belt or concealed somewhere in their clothing. Mages also carry several pouches to hold their spell components and keep them dry and clean. Pouches found as treasure will usually contain gold coins or a small trap device.

422 - STATUETTE

These small and often delicate carvings are made from stone or metal and can be found as ornaments in most ruins or dungeons. Although they were originally made in about equal amounts the metal statuettes are far more durable and now form the majority of those remaining intact. The base value of the materials used is low but they have value as works of art and can be sold in any town or city.

423 - CHAIR

This common item of furniture can be found anywhere. It has no special value though occasionally a particularly fine or old example may be regarded as an antique by certain collectors. They will then pay large sums of money to obtain a chair, or even several, to complete their collections.

424 - CRATE

A wooden box! What more can you say? Well, it's about two foot wide, two foot deep and two foot from front to back giving it a capacity of eight cubic feet or thereabouts. It can be used for storage but is too bulky to carry unless you happen to have a cart. They can be found lying around warehouses or storerooms all over the place. You might even find some in a dungeon. Will they contain anything useful? Probably not.

425 - TUB

This tub is an enormous wooden barrel. They are usually used for storage of perishable goods, fruit for example. They can also be used in the fermentation of beer or wine but this is less common. They are very heavy.

426 - DESK

Desks come in all shapes and sizes, from the tiny writing platform used by lowly scribes or clerks, up to the richly decorated, carved masterpieces used by most merchants or nobles. This one is definitely one of the latter. The legs are made of best hardwood which has been lovingly sculpted and the desk surface is a smooth unblemished piece of leather. It would certainly be well worth selling but moving it could be a real problem. It is big and very heavy.

427 - TABLE

This is a wooden table about six feet long and four feet wide made of good solid oak. It was probably once used for eating from, or as a work surface in a kitchen. It might fetch a few gold pieces if sold but is too heavy to make the effort worthwhile.

428 - BARREL

A fine specimen of the cooper's art. Despite its obvious age the barrel is still intact and looks to be sound still. It is built from closely fitting staves of wood, bound with black iron bands. The iron is pitted with rust but only the surface. The barrel could be moved with some difficulty but who would want to bother.

429 - WORK BENCH

This is the biggest piece of wood you ever saw apart from a tree. It is about ten feet long, six feet wide and a foot thick, with legs like tree stumps. The top surface is scored with deep grooves, scorch marks and gouges. It has clearly seen plenty of rough use during its time. Benches like this (though usually a little smaller) are often used by smiths, butchers or carpenters. You think that it would be possible to move but only with a very big cart.

430 - SHELF

A common fixture both above and below ground, shelves are used for holding all manner of items, from books to foodstuffs. They are generally made of wood and are securely attached to the walls with metal or wooden pins. They have no real value even if they could be removed.

43I - BENCH

This is a roughly carved piece of wood with legs at each end clearly intended for the purpose of sitting upon. It looks neither comfortable, nor of any worth, but it could be removed if you really wanted. It is about fifteen feet long so carrying it around will be a little awkward to say the least.

432 - BED

This is a low wooden construction covered with a straw pallet and some rotten, moth eaten blankets and sheets. The wood is full of wormholes and it looks as though the bed is in imminent danger of collapse. It certainly would not be worth anything.

435 - CASK

436 - SACK

These large bags of rough cloth are usually used for storing items of little value. Potatoes for example. They occasionally contain items of greater worth when found in dungeons. Several monster types use them for carrying the loot which they have stolen from unfortunate adventurers.

437 - VASE

These large pottery or earthware containers are usually used for decorative purposes but some are used for storage. Most towns and all cities have at least one potter able to make vase. The work of some potters is highly regarded and collectors will pay large sums for the product of their labours.

438 - SKULL

Although of no real value, human (or humanoid) skulls are sometimes collected by men of morbid tendencies. Some think that they can be used in a variety of arcane rituals for contacting the world of the dead but this is open to debate and has never been proven one way or the other. Skulls certainly play a part in many of the rituals of the Ythcal sect.

A wooden fixture, usually only found in libraries or the studies of academics. They are sometimes found in ancient ruins or dungeons. The shelves are large and solid and firmly attached to walls and floors. When found in a dungeon the contents have usually rotted away, or been consumed by insects, but occasionally a valuable book or scroll can be found by investigation.

442 - PAINTING

There is no accounting for taste and the value of art is seldom related to its age, condition, or even appearance. Collectors of paintings will often pay exorbitant sums for apparently worthless daubings, while more attractive works are dismissed without a second glance. Paintings vary in size but the canvas used by most artists is specially treated so that even large works can be carefully rolled and transported without difficulty.

446 - CRYSTAL BALL

A device often used by charlatans to swindle money from the naive and gullible. It is believed that skilled mystics were once able to use a crystal ball to see distant places or to foresee future events but the knowledge of this skill was lost long ago. Perfect spheres of crystal are very hard to create and their scarcity makes crystal balls quite valuable. Most are about four inches in diameter.
