Vacation 2010

September 12, Switzerland

Castles Laufen & Wörth

Zurich

Schaffhausen

The trip started with an overnight-flight from San Francisco via Philadelphia to Zurich. At the morning of September 12, we were greeted by the clear lakes and the snow-covered mountain tops of the Swiss Alps.

Volker's friend Frank picked us up in Zurich. Before reaching Germany, we visited Zurich's main attraction, the Rhine Fall.
River Rhine forms the border between the Swiss Cantons of Zurich and Schaffhausen. There is a small castle on each side of the falls. Laufen Castle on the Zurich side was first mentioned in 858. Wörth Castle, on the opposite side, was built in the 12th century.
