Framed by two castles, the
Rhine Falls tower 75 feet over river Rhine near the Swiss town of Schaffhausen. Every second, 185,000 gallons of water thunder down the 450 feet wide falls. |
There are several ways to explore the falls. One can get there by boat and actually climb the rock on the middle of the falls, or one can get to a platform very, very close to the falls. Both options are very wet ones and thus we opted to watch the falls from a somewhat safer distance. |
We were pretty tired from the flight, but Frank showed no mercy and took us on a hike along and across river Rhine. From the bridge, we got a good look at the river and the falls. The hike back took us along the other side of the river. |
Switzerland is Europe's cleanest country and up here, the water of river Rhine is crystal clear. |
Soon, we reached the falls again. For the way back, we took a boat and got a last, unique view at a beautiful part of Europe. |
