Vacation 2010

September 13-15, Germany

Immenstaad & Friedrichshafen

Immenstaad City

Friedrichshafen City

During our stay at Lake Constance, we were guests at Volker's friend Frank.
Frank lives in Immenstaad, a small, 900 year-old town, famous for its wine and its hospitality.
Near Immenstaad is Friedrichshafen, home town of Count Ferdinand Graf von Zeppelin and center of German airship production for over 100 years.

However, the mail attraction for us was the viewing tower in the harbor, offering stunning views over Lake Constance.
All the major towns along the lake are connected by ferries, ranging from old steamers to modern catamarans.
And of course, the tower also offered a great view over the entire town.
Looking south, there was the entire lake, with views all the way to Austria and Switzerland.
With a good zoom lens (thank you, Steffen) we were able to find Mount Schesaplana, 35 miles away in Austria. This mountain towers over Lake Lünersee, were went hiking a day earlier.
