Bärenklau Village |
Bärenklau (meaning Bear's Claw in German) is a small village at the outskirts of Berlin. Volker's grandparents used to live here and Volker's
father was born here. For about 20 years, Volker spent pretty much all of his summer and Christmas vacations here.
The village is 660 years old. In 2001, Bärenklau and six other villages were incorporated into the community Oberkrämer.

Volker proudly presented his old playground. Then, we gave Judy a tour of the village. |

The old village pub (above left) and the even older church (above right) are fine examples of
Brick Gothic, an old North German architecture style. But we also visited some sites of more recent history, like the duck pond where Volker learned ice skating and the soccer field, location of many triumphant childhood moments. |

The day ended with dinner at Jutta's and Jürgen's place. We spent the night a Volker's sister's house and enjoyed the tranquility of her little garden. |
