In 1515, German painter Albrecht Dürer created two woodblocks for the first western printed
star charts (see here for details).
![]() In the years and centuries that followed, many astronomers and artists were inspired by Dürer's masterpiece. ![]() There are literally hundreds of artistic renderings of the constellations - some done with amazing accuracy, others using a large degree of creative freedom. ![]() Even today, artists still create similar charts (see above a creation by Studio Grafiikka from 2018). ![]() Below are some examples I personally like. They are presented with internet sources and links to the biographies of their creators. Click on the pictures for larger images. |
