Capricornus is the smallest constellations of the
Zodiac. Its name is Latin for
"horned goat."
It is commonly represented in the form of a sea goat: a mythical creature that is half goat, half fish. Capricornus is one of the 48 original Ptolemaic Constellations. It is a faint constellation, the brightest star is Deneb Algedi, which is Arabic for "Tail of the Goat." |
