In 1679, French architect Augustin Royer published a star map that included two creations of his own,
both honoring his patron, French King Louis XIV.
![]() One, using stars of Aries was called Lilium, the Lily, referring to the fleur-de-lis, the symbol of French royalty. ![]() The other one, using stars of the constellations Lacerta and Andromeda was called Sceptrum et Manus Iustitiae, which is Latin for Scepter and Hand of Justice. ![]() Both constellations are no longer in use.
